WOMAN BETWEEN PATTERNS
Why woman? I believe with all my heart that a Woman is the spirit of earth and family. A woman has a lot of colors! She is the one who creates beauty, gives life to this world so it could live on and continue to create. She is the one who from early years has been creating a traditional pattern, which is her character. She did and still does through weaving, sewing, painting, cording, knitting, etc. A pattern reflects a place, where she lives, where she loves, sacrifices, gives birth, works. Where she teaches and shares her knowledge, ideas, thoughts, her life’s joy, femininity, and her secret and inner power.
From early ages, a woman was the one who clothed her family. The traditional patterns, created by those women, have mysticism, and speak about one person’s life. Patterns have a lot of power and show how different every single nation is but at the same time we are connected through those patterns. Because from antiquity we’ve traveled and shared our cultures for others, making it to mix and supplement.
That is how I got the idea to make this art project. The main theme of all of this is to impart the authentic traditions of patterns while invoking one regions traditional ornament, colors of traditional clothing, decoration, and inherent symbols. Furthermore, in my opinion, patterns that have been transmitted from generation to generation connect one another and, also as language, help to strengthen generation’s links, to maintain the legacy.
Collection consists of 10 paintings 1.95m x 1.3m
